Hygiene Advice for Orthodontic Patients

Oral hygiene is crucial to a successful and uncomplicated orthodontic treatment. Once braces are on, brushing and flossing are more of a challenge, but we will show you how to do the best job possible. Our clinical staff is always happy to coach our patients and demonstrate the best hygiene techniques. Your questions are always welcome!

For the best oral hygiene while in braces, follow these guidelines:

1. Brush your teeth and gums 3-4 times daily. Brushing after each time you eat is the best habit you can adopt!
2. Floss your teeth with floss threaders at least once daily.
3. Use the recommended fluoride toothpaste and/or fluoride rinse as directed.
4. Visit your dentist at least every 6 months for thorough cleanings and exams.
